"Most people get up and go to work with no other purpose than to earn a living and make a career but they know there is something more. We are seeing a growing trend where people want to live an integrated life as their values and beliefs permeate all aspects of life. A national survey revealed that 74% of adults say that their faith is becoming increasingly more important as a source of objective and reliable moral guidance. In a world of uncertainty and fast changing circumstances, people are looking for solutions - real solutions that change the game and for leaders to emerge at every level and title. What we need are people who are working on purpose."

Director Workplace Ministry - Saddleback@Work

God gave us the concept of work back in the Garden of Eden and He cares about your work as much today as he did back then. But challenging and disruptive work issues could distract us from our walk with God leaving us frustrated and wondering if what we do even matters or if the life we are living is in God's will.

Is it wrong to want to be promoted? What's the point of continuous improvement? Is it gossip to confide in a co-worker? Am I sacrificing my health or my family for my job? Will I ever make the boss happy?

We have so many questions about work and reasons why we need to work, but God wants us to discover its purpose. Based on the five biblical purposes model, let's look at what God has in mind for our work in the word SERVE:

Stewardship (worship)
Education (discipleship)
Relationships (fellowship)
Values (ministry)
Excellence (evangelism)
Be a responsible trustee
Be a lifelong learner
Be an encourager
Be a person of integrity
Be a role model

The Saddleback@Work mission - to equip, connect and send workplace believers into their area of influence. Connect with other workplace believers who are determined to put God in the center of their work, their business and their career or profession.

These resources are meant to help you live out your faith and your calling at work. We know that one day we will stand before Christ to receive what is due to us for the things we have done in this life, good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10) and that God will bring to light every deed, every hiding thing, good or bad (Eccl 12:14). God intended for your work to have meaning and purpose and to do work that will last for eternity.

If you are currently in transition or looking to change jobs or are an employer looking to hire, check out the Saddleback Career Coaching Counseling Ministry for career direction and support. The job fair is the first Monday of the month in the worship center and the rest of the Mondays in Tent 1 from 7-9pm.

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
