"I don't want to calm down; I want to do something," exclaims SHAPE Guide Pam Burns. On June 12, 2005 Pam attended Class 101, was baptized, and signed the covenant, cementing her membership with Saddleback Church. Ever since then she's thrown herself into ministry, helping out in any way she can.

"I was drawn to Saddleback because of everything they do for everyone. It's such a great church; something is going on twenty-four seven," said Pam. A churchgoer for years, Pam decided that a new church meant new beginnings and more importantly, getting involved. She immediately started helping with communion, baptisms, and anywhere else she was needed. It wasn't until Pam attended Class 301 and a volunteer suggested she become a SHAPE Guide, that she truly found her home in ministry. For the past four years now, Pam has gained fulfillment and joy in being a SHAPE Guide and mentoring the women who meet with her after attending Class 301.

"I get so excited for them," Pam expresses. "Each lady is so special to me." Just as Pam adores the women she meets with, they feel the same way towards her. One Saddleback member describes Pam as having a "very special, sweet spirit that has blessed me."  Another woman relays how Pam has "truly ministered to her."

Not one to run on empty, Pam makes it a priority to keep her support system alive. Along with getting up before sunrise each day to have her quiet time with God, she's also in a small group and meets with her fellow SHAPE volunteers on a weekly basis. This strong connection with God is what allows Pam to say, “I’ll do it (ministry) anywhere, anytime, any day I’m needed.”

If you want to find out your SHAPE for ministry, our next Class 301 is coming up this Sunday, May 16. Click here to register. If you're looking to start serving at Saddleback, click here to learn more.
