I can remember when Pastor Rick's book Purpose Driven Life was everywhere (airports, Wal-Mart, Costco, swap meets, rodeos, etc...). It seems that everywhere I went someone was either selling it or reading it. It made me so proud to see our pastor's book in the hands of so many people. I remember one time thinking, "That would be so weird/exciting if I saw someone reading one of my books somewhere." This would be a mini-miracle, because unlike Rick's books that sell in millions, mine sell in the dozens.

Anyway, today I was getting on plane to return from Columbus, Ohio I walked past someone in first class (key word: past) who was reading Refuel. I was tempted to stop and say, "Uh, hey...uh, well...[clear throat]... what do you think of that book." Fortunately, I didn't say anything because I would have sounded like an idiot. But, I did sit in my [lower class] seat and think, "Wow... that's pretty cool. I hope it helps her have a more authentic connection with God." Then, I fell asleep.

After the 59 minute flight into Chicago I saw the woman when I got off the plane. She smiled and approached me and said, "Do you think you could get Rick Warren's autograph for me?" Just kidding. She said, "I was at your conference and my pastor bought me your book." We chatted about her experience at the conference and the role she plays in her church. It was a nice conversation, but in the back of my mind I was thinking, "That doesn't count." She was at the conference, the book was for sale there... that doesn't count as a "book sighting." On my flight to Orange County I did sit behind someone who had Purpose Driven Life in his briefcase. Not kidding. There is so much in life to laugh and think about.

I made it home safe.
