I don’t know about you guys but I have really enjoyed the Refuel Series so far.

As I was listening to Part 2: "It’s Easier Than You Think" one part specifically stuck with me. Doug encouraged everyone to find their own connecting triggers that occur in every day life. So I began to think about my own connecting triggers and two immediately came to mind. The first connecting trigger is a rubber bracelet I wear on my right hand; you know like the yellow LIVESTRONG ones. In college my roommate came back to our dorm room and handed me the bracelet and told me he found it in the parking lot. On the bracelet it says “Jon” exactly like that quotation marks and all. What is crazy about it is that is my name. My name is Jon with no "h" and it is Jon not Jonathan. When ever I look at this bracelet I use it to remind me that God is always there and always wants to make a connection.

My second trigger is my bathroom mirror. While it isn’t a traditional trigger I use it as one. Sometime last year I began writing on the mirror different words that I wanted to focus on for a month; white board markers work great for writing on the mirror. I would focus on a single word each month and direct myself to that word whenever possible. But recently I changed how I used this. I started writing “Soli Deo Gloria” on the top which is Latin for "Glory to God alone" and then below that I write specific people I want to pray for. Now please don’t think I’m one of those super Christians who prays for everyone constantly; I actually have a hard time remembering to pray for people. So this is a way to help me remember to pray for certain people.

After hearing Doug talk about the triggers he uses I decided I wanted to add some more, which has started me down a road to search for God in more places. In the Old Testament people would regularly build something in a specific place to remind them of what God had done there. Are you looking for places to build up reminders of God? What are the triggers you use? Are you even looking for them?

The way I see it is the more reminders we have the more often we will turn our mind to God and we will experience his presence more often. Or as Doug has said it: Stop, Be Quiet, Make a Connection. And that is something I want.
