A few people are afraid of good ideas, ideas that make a difference or contribute in some way. Good ideas bring change, that's frightening to a lot of people. But many people are petrified of bad ideas. Ideas that make us look stupid or waste time or money or create some sort of backlash.

The problem is that you can't have good ideas unless you're willing to generate a lot of bad ones. We succeed far more often than people who have no ideas at all. In planning and developing the ideas for Compton and Santa Ana we generated all sorts of bad ideas. Those bad ideas helped us find the good ones.  God wants us to try something...anything.  You can't see how God can work in your life if you don't risk something.

Someone asked me where I get all my good ideas, explaining that it takes him a month or two to come up with one and I seem to have more than that. I asked him how many bad ideas he has every month. He paused and said, "none."

And there, you see, is the problem.  Bring some of your ideas to Compton and Santa Ana.  We have Fresh Paint and God is making a difference.

Are you ready to be the best at what you can be?  Do you need to quit something so you have the time to be the best or are you spending your time at something that is just wasting your energy?  When you lean into something to become the absolute best, God Blesses it.  Remember David and Goliath?  Goliath never had a chance in this fight.  David was the best Sling Shot artist in the world.  He practiced day after day in the fields.  When it was time to confront Goliath he didn’t need to do hand to hand combat with him, in fact he could stand 30 yards away from him and kill him with a stone not much bigger than a quarter.  Are you ready with your rock or are you still in a hard place?  If you’re in a hard place, quit it right now and pick up a rock.  God just might put you up against Goliath. Being on thin ice means you made a bad choice, you can change that, talk to someone ask God for Forgiveness but don’t just stay there it will probably melt.  On the other hand if the ice is thin and you are on it, congratulations you are risking something.  Leaders go out on ice that is thin all the time.  We need leaders who know where they are at.  Join us in leadership with the Fresh Paint ministry in Compton and Santa Ana.  You may just make a breakthrough but we won’t let you breakthrough.

Because the leader breaks the wind for the others.  But in reality, if you look closely the leader is constantly changing so the last leader can rest.  Even if you find a flock that seems safe in God’s world He doesn’t want you to be safe and stay safely in the pack, at certain times you need to fly to the front and lead. However, if you’re pride and ego keeps you at the front to long you’ll  become weak and not much good to anyone.  Besides when you're flying high and in the lead remember what all of the birds are looking at. Sometimes you need to take the lead and other times you just need to drop back..Listen for God to tell you when.  Fresh Paint Compton/Santa Ana

If you have an idea you are passionate about you need to lead and champion that idea.  Don’t get intimidated by the Status Quo.  The Status Quo is boring.  God wants each one of us to be Remarkable.  If you start to think," it can’t be Remarkable" you’re not letting God be the Fulcrum.  Remember with a Fulcrum long enough a 5 year old can lift a 250 lb. Sumo Wrestler off the ground.  Don’t settle for anything short of Remarkable.  When we started in Compton I thought it was not possible to do all the stuff we were doing.  But we created a team of leaders (we found the fulcrum) and did it.  It’s amazing to watch 30 people paint a house in 4 hours.  Remember the fulcrum.  Fresh Paint Compton/Santa Ana

So which comes first, you get to decide.  God gave you free will so will you make the right decision.  Depends on being or doing.  Again you decide, or do you?  Should I go paint houses in Compton or Santa Ana or should I sleep in today.  An egg can’t paint houses but a chicken can.  So if you decide to paint houses today you’ll be a chicken and the riddle is solved.  Be a chicken for God’s sake.

About
Fresh Paint is all about changing lives and communities in a way that’s simple and practical. We help those in need with yard work and a fresh coat of paint on their house. A few hours on a Saturday can make an eternal impact, God wants to use you to make a difference!

ANYONE can serve, all it takes is a small time commitment and a willingness to help. Take it from those of us who volunteer to lead this ministry and this blog: we have seen communities and families be radically changed because Saddleback has stepped up and out to serve in the name of Jesus.
