This Tuesday, January 25 Pastor Rick will sit down for one-on-one interviews with the doctors in our first Daniel Plan Webcast. This half hour broadcast will air at noon on DanielPlan.com . If you can’t watch it on your lunch hour, there will be a rebroadcast at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. that evening.

As you remain committed to this journey and to supporting one another, make it a priority to watch next week at one of the above times. And remind your friends and small group as well!

I am 70 and feel its imperative for me to get into good shape to extend my life. My family has, for the most part, passed in their early 70's. I have knee issues and since my latest x-ray showed it is bone on bone on both knees am probably heading for bi-lateral knee replacement. Might there be a category for people at my age? I have many friends my age who would work hard with guidance but since we are just a few years ahead of the baby boomers help doesn't often come our way. We are willing and our spirits are great. Help us give good examples to the baby boomers. Exciting - thank you, Nancy

I have done the Daniel's diet and it is a wonderful health benefit. When Rick Warren came to The First Church of God in Columbus, OH, the Daniel Diet was part of the Purpose Driven Life for 40 days. I would recommend it to everyone. Be Blessed!

How do we start with this program. What is it all about!!
Posted by Shirley Calvin 1/10/2011 8:48:00 AM
In 2009, I successfully completed 3 Daniel Fasts [21 days each]. Each one was for spiritual direction, as well as other concerns, and I gained a benefit from it health wise. I lost a total of 30 pounds. This time I plan to stick to the plan and lose my desired 35 pounds to be at my "right size in my Decade of Destiny". I will be all that God wants me to be...healthy, wealthy and wise! PRAISE GOD!

I am committed to balancing my life in 2011 with good eating habits, better spiritual concepts and a daily goal input/output with family, friends and ministries. There is about 75 lbs of heavy loads that i will have to work off, and with totally submission to God's will and principles, i will.
Posted by Dave Anderson 1/10/2011 11:50:00 AM
I am at 300 lbs. I am embarrassed to look at myself let alone others look at me. I think this is an awesome thing Pastor Rick and everyone at Saddleback are doing. I will need pushing thru the hard times and excited to know that I have some many people moving forward with me. I wonder what the total weight loss will be for the WHOLE chruch?
Posted by Lyndell 1/10/2011 12:54:00 PM
I would love any and all info on the Daniel plan....I live in Iowa
Posted by Nathalie Plan 1/10/2011 1:07:00 PM
This is amazing! I prayed so long and hard for support as I go through losing the weight that I gained in the last ten years. I weigh 220 pounds when I really should weigh 115 pounds when I only stand at the height of 5?6. My goal is to lose 105 pounds in this year. I know that sounds like a lot but like Pastor Rick said last night, I am making a big goal so that God can go BIG with me!
Posted by Phil 1/10/2011 1:11:00 PM
Timely. My New Years resolution ws "To get fit!" Just had hip replacement #2 so it's time! My wife and I will be there and "Git 'er done!"

I just joined the SB Church family. I was looking for support to help me improve my spiritual life in 2011, but to receive help in improving my health, finances, and other part of life is amazing. Big time score for me! Thanks Saddleback!

This sounds like an invitation from the Holy Spirit himself. I've tried and unsuccessfully could not tell what my Spiritual Gifts are. I'm trusting that I will find an answer, Thank You, Pastor Rick!!
Posted by Dr. Mark Kelly 1/10/2011 3:07:00 PM
As an exercise physiologist and someone who has conducted many weight management and health programs, I am happy and impressed by the enthusiasm. Like Walk and Worship, it started out very strong and tailed off quickly. I can only hope the support systems will be there for this. I will do pre-program assessments if anyone is interested and hopefully will "coach" people in this program. Treat God's temple with the respect it deserves.

Hi Everyone-It is extremely encouraging to see everyone as excited as we are! It looks like there are several questions, so here is what I know so far:-There will be childcare, but limited availability, so if you have alternate options it might be better to go with those.-There is no cost and no registration for this event. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis at the Lake Forest Worship Center. We'll also have overflow seating in few areas on the Lake Forest campus, which I'll advise as soon as I get that info.-You can also watch live online at DanielPlan.com or listen live at saddleback.com/pdrc.-Any and all ages are welcome and if you don't live in the area, all the resources for you to work the plan will be available on DanielPlan.com.Thanks for all your thoughtful questions-this is going to be a fantastic journey!

This is so exciting! Another great resource with a complete program including product, virtual clinic, support, curriculum is Dr.A's Habits of Health. The product in this program includes portion controlled meal replacements ( some of us need that) through Johns Hopkins sponsored by Medifast. It is so good to be a part of a church family that is pursuing Optimal Health spiritually, physically, and mentally.

This is going to be fun ---- so many people to be accountable to --- the whole church! we'll be watching how we all get thinner and happier (we'll have our eyes on each other:))

I am a compulsive eater, it is my main addiction, it is also a socially accepted addiction. People are not likely to accuse me for overeating, as in some other addictions. I also know where I am with God when I am compulsively eating, NOT CONNECTED AT ALL SPIRITUALLY. I have not turned even the smallest, that is my food plan over to God. I am so happy to see this upcoming event, I look forward. Thank God for you.

Do we have to buy what janet Cronstedt 1/10/2011 6:34:00 PM Posted??? I don't have money for special diets or liquid powders, Dr. Andrew Weil only recommends fasting for a day or two at the most--and even he says juice is advisable and never for diabetics as the low blood sugar could cause metabolic dangers; the medifast does not sound Healthy. Anyway, I want to see the broadcast later: will it be available on a video like Brother Rick's above message for viewing later? I don't do Itunes as I cannot afford an Ipod. Thank you. God Bless You for Doing this Health Seminar as I am so low in energy, hurt all over from many physical complaints that I can't get to church most of the time. xoxo ***copy of message below:This is so exciting! I have followed his work for over 4 yrs. and have been wanting to send my daughter, who has numerous psychiatric disorders, to his clinic. I was an RN and in the health care field for over 20 yrs (before my accident) and am always surprised what little support he gets from fellow psychiatrists and neurologists with his work in brain SPECT scanning and reading. I think it's awesome that someone is at least looking at causes for the disorders and prescribing meds

I feel like this can be a great January and not just another in a long line of starts and stops for me in my life. I am working on BELIEVING I can change and have set my goal. God has brought me a cardio partner and I feel like the Daniel Plan will bring me the nutritional support i need to STAY on track and to give myself plenty of time to make that happen. When I prayed about it with some others on SUnday, the sun came out for the duration of the prayer while my little prayer group was outside. I felt like God gave me a personal rainbow. I can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives me strength. Phil. 4:13

I live in Canada but want to wish you every success in every way. I believe very strongly in a "balanced" life and this is a very positive step towards that goal and very exciting to be doing it as a community. I look forward to see what God does through this process.

At the moment I am in rehab from my last operation getting doctors advice and help for a exercise and conditioning program for the next 12 months. Then as our Lord is, paowww, the Daniel Plan from the Saddelback Church.... Perfect !! Praise the Lord, God Bless Saddelback Church and all those that are involved with the Daniel Plan. Many Blessings from Europe.

Did Pastor Rick divulge that these "doctors" who plan to get you healthy are New Age spiritists who will lead many astray. WAKE UP people. Have any of you read Dt.18:10-13? Just wondering!

I'm in the Bay Area, so it's a bit of a drive! Any chance I can view the kick off broadcast from the 15th? Blessings to all!

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the Truth and shall be turned unto fables." 2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV

You have got to be joking, surely? This passage from Daniel is nothing to do with dieting and all to do with turning away from idolatry. Furthermore, Daniel and his friends ate only vegetables and drank only water - this "Daniel Diet" fails to do that, so how on earth can this be a serious exposition of Scripture? And, just a thought, I don't know anyone in my church who could lose 90 pounds and still be healthy.

Praise God for exposing the enemy who has many of us captive and in denial. Our lust for what is legal is used as a ploy of the enemy to sedate us. GLUTTONY is one of the deadly sins no less than the rest. Lets glean everything we can from this Daniels Plan and watch what God does once we learn to cast down the idols and buffet the flesh. I have been fighting a battle for years, have become very tired but, have never fully given up...but, have become very weary. It's 2011 and I sincerely believe the Calvary has come to help. Thank You Pastor Warren for presenting Celebrate Recovery, The Purpose Driven Life and Daily Hope. Thank You for Loving our Lord Jesus. I pray a hedge of protection around all of us so we keep marching forward "In Christ" and not become discouraged or led astray. Hoping we keep eyes up to the hills and think only of good things and listen to things of good report. The enemys days are numbered. We will wake from our "indulgences" that have kept us sleepy Spiritually. Be refreshed. Be encouraged. Study "yourself" to be approved. We have an army of recruits to share in this Plan. Yes, pull down the flesh and let the Holy Spirit decern who we are truly in battle with. Not people but, you know who!

Our group is serious about getting healthy! After doing the weekly small group study, we go out and walk together for 30 minutes! Yes, it is dark, but we take flashlights and the kids go too! We also did a blood pressure check last week! Our health champion sends daily texts to everyones phone to encourage them to exercise and eat healthy. We are looking forward to a healthier 2011!Way to go group!
